I was enthralled when I saw how the Crocs seemed to be comfortable as I tried a pair on... looking at the price (more that Php 1,700) discouraged me to buy it as I was just going to use it for leisure purposes.

Passing by the shoe department of SM, I saw what seemed to be a "Croc" style leisure wear named Planet and I was amazed that it was even more comfortable, lighter, just as sturdy and a lot cheaper than the real thing... cost is only Php 169.75 (comes only in black or white).

got two pairs na both are the beach (or is that cayman? couldn't tell the diff) model, one's in black the other's in orange. and for this diabetic, its like walking on marshmallows while shod in a pair of these. never mind the funny way it looks; heck, if it keeps my neuropathic dogs from barking, I'll get a dozen!

i could KISS the chefs who pointed these out to me during a trip to an industrial kitchen recently

Uso uso lang talaga. I remember seeing this guy before at Greenbelt na naka tsinelas. I told myself, now here is a guy so secure with himself. Later on I found out uso pala ang Havaianas.

Yesteday I saw this guy wearing yellow plastic clogs. I told myself, must be some gay fashion dude-tte. And now I read this Crocs thread. Hehe.

At the end of the day, tsinelas pa rin mga yan. Admit it or not, you are jumping on the fashion wagon. Sure it is comfy. Pero I am sure there are equally comfortable tsinelas out there.

In trying to be different, we all look alike.

I like havaianas. I had them . Kaso sumabit ako. I tried my bro's brown ones and they felt great. Thiking they were all the same, I bought the cute design of their Surf model. Pag-uwi ko, ang tigas. Oh well. I used with them thinking, matibay naman. Less than a year nasira ang t-back niya. Ayun, nasibak.

I went back to my palenke Nikon tsinelas. You've all read about the Emperor's New Clothes right.

i don't think masira sya kaagad. it's made of very durable material.

i bought it because it's comfy, not because it's uso. i don't think it's really the fad here. a lot of healthcare professionals wear it, or those whose work require a lot of walking.

i guess it's cheaper here kasi i bought it a year ago and it was only $25. beware, there are some fake one too.

fashion be d@amned! ang laki na ng nagagastos ko sa sapatos coz I'm diabetic and had to take extra care of my feet. i even had to give up my beloved tevas -- a veteran pair that saw me through many climbs -- coz my doctor forbade me to use open footwear. kahit sa beach, i've to wear something like aquasocks with crocs, i get a happy compromise between a casual pair of semi-open footwear and one that helps baby my feet.

i just wish they'd bring the Rx series here, i'd buy their version of diabetic clogs.

Crocs actually has been around the market for awhile. Maybe 3-4 years. Crocs footwear was originally intended as a boating/outdoor because of its slpi-resistant, non-marking sole. Nag boom lang talaga siya kasi super comfy at ngayon lang na-market sa pinas. actually, cheaper crocs dito sa pinas kaysa sa states. maybe a difference of 2K.

peace out!

As I mentioned a while ago, the Planet brand (found in SM dept stores) came out with a decent "Croc style" shoe but entirely closed.

It has an orthotic foot bed, slip-resistant, anti-microbial, odor resistant, bouyant and very light weight and looks more decent for work purposes. The only drawback is they come only in black or white (probably targeting nurses who have to walk constantly during work). The price is amazingly lower than Php 170.00.

It turns out that the exclusive distributer of Crocs in the Philippines is a friend of mine and seeing him in their new store at the City Center of Fort Bonifacio he asked me, "Have you tried the comfort of wearing Crocs?" and I replied, "Surely, that's why I decided to get a Planet". We both laughed.

On the way out, people were asking me what model of Crocs I was wearing as they did not see it on the displays... and I proudly told them that the pair I was wearing could only be bought in SM department stores.

Hi Chito!

What SM branch, and exact location in the department store please? I'll never buy a tsinelas worth more than 300, so I can buy 10 Planet instead of a pair of croc?

They're more comfortable than they look... Notice the tracks on the back just like a driving shoe? I wear them almost everyday, rain or shine... very easy to clean, just wipe and go. If you want them a bit shinier for more formal occassions, wipe with Armour All or use Tire Black for that wet look.

Does not smell even when worn wet!
