This is from a concerned filipino citizen:
Last March 13, 2009, Filipino Fashion Designer Angelino Boyet Fajardo created a scene, to the shock and horror of shoppers and employees of Duty Free Philippines alike, when a cashier politely asked for his ID after presenting his unsigned credit card. This is a standard operating procedure applicable to all stores to verify ownership of the credit card and prevent fraud.

Suddenly, the designer reportedly got furious and, at the top of his voice, started berating the cashiers and managers of Duty Free Philippines. He might have thought a celebrated person like he is, with all his accolades and fame, has gone unrecognized by the cashier. A new well-trained casual worker who is carefully doing his job. The designer further shocked bystanders by cursing the people there with words such as leche and p...ina, while angrily expressing surprise why the people there did not recognize him.

Store managers and officers were sought to appease the matter, explaining to him that it is all included as a standard operating procedure in credit card payment for the safety, not only for the company but also his own. Ignoring all this, he pulled out his phone and threatened to call on high positioned government officials whom he allegedly knew, like doing a power-play to make these people realize how important he is. He went on saying "Mga leche kayo! Hindi niyo ako kilala? Ako si Boyet Fajardo! At itong p...ina na babaeng ito (pointing to a lady officer) at ang baklang ito (pointing to the cashier) ay walang kwentang mga tao! I want them fired!!!"

His yelling and berating went on and on. He cannot calm down and as he appeared to have bloodshot eyes, like that of a drunk person and or under an influence. He threw his passport on the cashier's face and later intentionally stepped on the cashier's foot to say "Ay sorry, di ko sinasadya!" He goes on to say, that only if the cashier kneel down before him and/or allow him to freely slap the cashier's face, may he get satisfied.

The ill-fated cashier, with all the onlookers watching, stand down and just simply gave in to probably he thought would end the matter. Crying in shame he slowly knelt down and apologize (for actually doing his job) before this self proclaimed GOD, perhaps for fear of loosing his job. No slapping was made to the cashier's face but the incident landed a harsher and reverberating sound to the faces of the lesser people of this society.

Fortunately, his inhumane acts were caught on CCTV in which a portion was featured in YouTube.


With such disrespect, discrimination and humiliation towards a good worker, a less fortunate person and a fellow Filipino...

1. We are calling all citizens to stop patronizing Boyet Fajardo's RTW labels such as Substance in SM department stores, Boyet Fajardo and Initials in Landmark and Robinson's department stores.
2. We are calling on all malls to pull out or stop distributing his products in your outlets.
4. We are calling on the Commission on Human Rights, Department of Labor and Employment and all human rights and labor activists to take appropriate legal actions on this matter.
5. We are calling all foreign embassies to deny him of entry to your respective countries.
6. We are calling on the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines to dishonor him of his membership and profession.

...To give him a lesson and to help us stop him from victimizing the underprivileged over and over and over again.

I seriously doubt that this act falls on DOLE since there is no employee-employer relationship. at most, civil action.

and going to the CHR is like telling on a wall. nothing will happen.

No thanks to Cyberspace, melodramatic meltdowns, like smoking inside enclosed public spaces, may soon be a thing of the past.

A soundless video clip purportedly showing fashion designer Boyet Fajardo and the object of his ire has lately made the rounds of several blogs.

Not since last year’s Gucci gang brouhaha have cyber-pundits been this riveted, dishing out their brand of bile against the designer.

With his back against the surveillance camera, Fajardo was shown berating a hapless Duty Free Philippines cashier before making him kneel before him.

According to people close to him, however, the designer was merely “speaking for effect,” since he found the “overacting” cashier “whimsical.”

The cashier’s sin: He refused to honor Fajardo’s credit card until he could compare the designer’s signature with other forms of identification.

Fajardo reportedly found this odd since he had already made a number of earlier transactions using the same credit card (with different cashiers) in the same store.

Unable to produce the required documents, an exasperated Fajardo, who’d just flown in from a Shanghai business trip, asked to talk to the cashier’s superiors, including the store’s assistant comptroller.

When the matter was finally settled, the comptroller reportedly asked Fajardo how DFP could make amends.

The designer, pointing to the cashier, reportedly asked him to kneel before him. Fajardo claimed he was merely using a “figure of speech” when he said, “Lumuhod ka” (kneel).

Rather than protest, however, the assistant comptroller demanded the cashier to do as he was told. And he did.

The video is enough to make you cringe.

Pasensya na, but what kind of Figure of Speech is he suppose to say? What kind of amendment is he really expecting? I assume that an apology was made from the cashier and the assistant comptroller. :D

If Mr. Fajardo meant it as a figure of speech, he should have stopped when the cashier is about to kneel down... unless he really mean it. :D

Nonetheless, I don't think Mr. Fajardo felt sorry about the incident. Blame it to the cashier!

can't comment so much kasi i know boyet...mqabait naman sya and he is proud na mahirap lang sya dati and because of hard work became rich. and yung mga workers nya matagal na rin sa kanya and saw him nice naman sya mag treat sa workers..... yung cashier kasi bading din...yes the cashier asked for Identification and boyet showed his passport..yung issue pala ng 2008 passport walang signature....( hindi yung credit card ang walang signature but the new issued passport ) the cashier cant accept the passport kasi daw walang signature and boyet explained that the only Id he got and twas his 4 trnsction .....
kahit he was laughted off when he was still studying bec of his handicap ( one hand is shorter ) it didnt stop there but still prove kahit ganon sya he was able to work hard.....
maybe because tired from his trip and oo nga naman was able to purchased sa same store walang problem bakit sa cashier lang ng bading na yun sya pinahirapan.... just sharing....

I think it is human nature to react negatively to bitchy cashiers :frusty:(i'm not saying it's right, though) but to give NEGATIVE remarks to someone who is just doing their job and doing absolutely nothing wrong is a different thing:tsk:.

This designer I think is already learning a lot from this issue, he did not use his heart nor his brain (everybody has, some just don't never care to utilize them):ballchain:, he let his emotions overwhelm him and chose to be righteous over someone who has done nothing but to adhere to the store’s policies. Sad thing is, the designer is learning through great consequences. I just can’t comprehend why he had to speak rudely :kev: instead of just shutting up and showing an ID – less work, less consequences, less worries, less everything, easier to sleep at night, easier to go out from the house or office because nobody wants to punch you on the face :fear:, easier life as nobody's swearing at you - the situation could have been a whoooole lot better...

I think even if the manager had asked the cashier not to do what the designer asked, the cashier would still kneel down. This is just my 2 cents. I think the cashier just felt so helpless :help:and felt terrified :shocked: to lose his job. Sad truth is, the designer who looked down on that terrified man never thought that what he did could cost him not just his job/business but more than his fortunes :car:. Again, this is just my 2 cents. :loco:

Just a thought... I think presenting his passport should be enough to prove that he is the card holder of the credit card... Since it bares his name and "picture" on it. Tungkol naman sa signature, as long as pareho ang signature sa credit card at sa charge slip, ok na yun.

nonetheless, mali pa din yun paluluhurin mo ang tao at tatawagan pa kung patay na ang manager.

B. Fajardo deserves all the consequences to his actions.

On a personal note, my parents went on a vacation to Paris I think last year. Boyet and his younger brother and older sister were part of that tour also. Their bus seating arrangement was on a "first come first seated" basis. My parents got in early and were seated. Boyet, who was always late, got in the bus. At that time my dad was on the phone. Boyet began shouting at my dad, "That's my seat!" My parents stood up and gave him the seat. My mother responded to him, "You could have asked politely." My dad could not take it anymore and summoned the tour guide (Boyet has been acting like a brat and bully ever since they started the tour). Dad was furious and complained to the guide about the actions of Boyet. Everyone (all filipinos) in the bus were commenting and telling Boyet to apologize. His sister and brother approached my dad to apologize on their brother's behalf. Sadly, Boyet never apologized. Consequently, everyone ignored Boyet from then on because they could not stomach his bratty and arrogant attitude.

According to my parents, people like Boyet has inferiority complex and his arrogance, pride and bratty attitudes are his defense mechanisms.

Malas lang talaga ni BF at nakunan sa CCTV pero hindi ba illegal na nagkaroon sila ng copy ng video na yun kasi surveillance cam yun eh... baka majeopardize yung security protocols ng Duty-free... can't comment so much kasi i know boyet...mqabait naman sya and he is proud na mahirap lang sya dati and because of hard work became rich. and yung mga workers nya matagal na rin sa kanya and saw him nice naman sya mag treat sa workers..... yung cashier kasi bading din...yes the cashier asked for Identification and boyet showed his passport..yung issue pala ng 2008 passport walang signature....( hindi yung credit card ang walang signature but the new issued passport ) the cashier cant accept the passport kasi daw walang signature and boyet explained that the only Id he got and twas his 4 trnsction .....
kahit he was laughted off when he was still studying bec of his handicap ( one hand is shorter ) it didnt stop there but still prove kahit ganon sya he was able to work hard.....
maybe because tired from his trip and oo nga naman was able to purchased sa same store walang problem bakit sa cashier lang ng bading na yun sya pinahirapan.... just sharing....
a "mabait" person (if we have the same definition) wouldnt do what fajardo did. a "mabait" person may cuss when pissed off. but anyone who says the stuff he said "di nyo ba ko kilala?" and ask someone to kneel before him is egotistical and has delusions of grandeur.

OT: una, dapat hindi mo binabaan ang driver ng bus. delikado yan, and more importantly, lugi ka dyan. kung sa damage sa sasakyan, kadalasan and in reality, wala ka naman talagang makukuha sa bus company. sakit lang ng ulo. and then ang driver nyan kayang-kayang maglaho na lang tapos kang saktan. actually may kumpare akong napikon sa bus driver some time ago (binangga yung kotse nya ng bus driver). binabaan nya. pero ang kinalabasan ay nagulpi lang siya ng bus driver, ng konduktor at ng mga pasahero. pati misis nya muntik na din madamay.

and here's the thing: its not so much as a thing against the rich but has more to do with crowd mentality. lumalakas ang loob ng tao kapag nasa isang grupo, and worse, minsan hindi na nakakapag-isip ng tama. minsan ang iniisip na lang ng mga tao sa crowd ay "libreng batok" o "libreng suntok."

pero ultimately, i have to say na please don't lose faith sa marginalized sector. sa kanila mo makikita ang true spirit ng bayanihan. may mga pasyente kami minsan na talagang walang-wala pero naisasalba ang pang-araw-araw na gastusin nila kasi nagtutulungan sila sa community nila. siyempre hindi mo matatanggal ang mga bad eggs pero makikita naman ang mga ito sa kahit anong sector ng society. meron talagang mga kriminal at pusakal. pero makikita din naman ito sa mga mayayaman, and sometimes, worse pa talaga. kung ang mahihirap natutuwa sa pagnanakaw ng, say, P10K or P20K, ang mga mayayaman kung magnakaw ay nasa milyon o bilyong piso pa. sa trabaho ko, i have seen the best and the worst in people, and what i realized is that people are people, and that they will do what they want to do regardless of their standing in life. madaming sobrang bait na mahihirap. and in fact, mas madami sila kesa sa masasamang mahihirap.

wag mo sanang mamasamain ang reply ko. sa ganang akin lang ay merong mga mabubuting mamamayan at may masasama, and ang dalawang klaseng taong ito ay makikita mula sa pinakamahihirap at sa pinakamayayaman.
